Mini-ROCE Workshop Reconnect:

Join Us for a Community Luncheon

Last year, the Recharge Our Community’s Economy (ROCE) workshop series brought together residents, business owners, Coast Guard families, and community leaders over four full-day sessions. Those workshops led to the creation of several active Value Chains, groups of community members working together around shared priorities to strengthen Kodiak’s economy and quality of life.

Since completing the series, these Value Chains have continued meeting, refining ideas, and moving projects forward. Their work reflects the value of bringing people together to listen, learn, and collaborate around locally driven solutions.

We also heard from many community members who were interested in ROCE but were unable to attend the full workshop series due to time or scheduling constraints. In response, KEDC is hosting a Mini-ROCE Workshop Reconnect to create an accessible entry point for those who want to learn more and explore opportunities to engage. We will have the Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) Community Economic Development Consultant, Amy Williams, in town for this event.

What to Expect

This Mini-ROCE session will be a facilitated luncheon designed to reconnect the community around the ROCE approach and the Value Chains already underway.

During the session, KEDC and RCAC will:

  • Share a brief update on the current Value Chains and the work they are doing

  • Provide space for participants to learn about existing efforts and decide whether they would like to get involved

  • Facilitate a discussion to identify additional Value Chains that may be needed in our community

  • Explore how KEDC and RCAC can support the development of new ideas and collaborations

This is not a full training or workshop series. Instead, it is a focused opportunity to reconnect, learn, and help shape what comes next.

A Great Opportunity for Kodiak and YOU!

The Building Rural Economies Recharge Our Community’s Economy workshop is grounded in the belief that strong economies grow from local ideas, relationships, and leadership. Value Chains help turn shared priorities into coordinated action, whether focused on workforce development, housing, small business support, or other community needs.

This luncheon is an opportunity to reconnect with that work, hear what is already happening, and help identify where new energy and ideas could make a difference.
