KEDC is hosting a Mini-ROCE Workshop Reconnect luncheon to share updates on current Value Chains and explore new community-led ideas. This session is designed for those who were unable to attend last year’s full ROCE workshop series and want to learn more or get involved.

On January 29, KEDC Executive Director Melissa Schoenwether presented to the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly, sharing a report on KEDC’s 2025 work and priorities for 2026. The update highlights housing, workforce development, mariculture, and community-driven economic initiatives that support the entire Kodiak Archipelago.

The Housing Steering Committee plays an important role in supporting housing solutions across Kodiak’s villages. This update shares what the recent reconvening means for village communities and how local voices and leadership will help guide implementation of the Housing Action Plan.

KEDC brought together local leaders on October 28 for the Housing Steering Committee reconvening, marking the start of implementing the Housing Action Plan. The session focused on shared priorities, coordination, and setting the foundation for measurable progress in 2025 and beyond.

KEDC presented its third quarter update to the City Council on October 23, highlighting progress in housing, mariculture, and community driven economic projects. The report included insights from guest Kelly Wyche of the Center for Economic Development and outlined next steps in KEDC’s ongoing partnership with the City.

KEDC shared updates from recent village visits at the Koniag-KANA Roundtable, highlighting housing, workforce, and mariculture priorities. The outreach built stronger connections with villages and ensured their perspectives are part of ongoing housing and economic development work.

KEDC and UAA CED met with Kodiak residents and villages to gather input for the Housing Action Plan and explore new economic opportunities, including mariculture.
