KEDC Welcomes Gloria Selby for First Friday Art Walk

For Gloria Selby, painting is a way of holding onto the people, places, and stories that make Kodiak home. This Friday evening, she will share that connection with the community through her artwork, including several new pieces being shown for the first time.

KEDC is pleased to welcome the public into our downtown office on Friday, September 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. as we participate in First Friday Art Walk for the first time. Visitors are invited to stop in, meet Gloria, spend time with her artwork, and enjoy an evening of art and community.

A Kodiak-born artist, Gloria was raised in Afognak until the 1964 earthquake, an experience that continues to shape her connection to place and heritage. Largely self-taught, she has developed a vibrant, impressionistic style inspired by Kodiak’s landscapes and wildlife, as well as her island community. Her paintings use color and texture t create a sense of movement and capture the spirit of the places and experiences that surround us.

Everyone is welcome, and all ages are invited to participate in First Friday Art Walk. We hope you will join us and help make KEDC’s first Art Walk a warm and welcoming gathering.
