PAID STUDENT INTERNSHIPS · NOVEMBER 2026–MAY 2027

Your ideas (and mentoring).

Real projects (you help create).

On the job training (plus a paycheck!)

Ever wondered what happens behind a “STAFF ONLY” door?

Curious about how to plan a community project that draws people together?

At Kodiak Economic Development Corporation (KEDC), you can take part in that work. You might photograph an event, help get a meeting ready, turn a story into a social media post. Maybe you ask other students what would make a career activity worth attending, create a survey, or spend an afternoon touring a business or organization to learn how it serves Kodiak.
Through hands on experience, you’ll learn how ideas become plans and how people work together to get things done.

We’re preparing to welcome three paid student interns.
Any chance you’ll be one of them?

Bring your interests, a willingness to learn alongside two other students, and see where it leads.

Learn with a team

Unlike some jobs, you won’t be expected to know everything on your first day.

Its KEDC’s responsibility to provide examples, coaching and thoughtful feedback.
Shared work time and an intern support system will give you space to ask questions, brainstorm and solve problems together.

You’ll practice communication, teamwork, public speaking and organizing your work.

There are also some really interesting perks and extras! You’ll be invited to special monthly career conversations with KEDC Board members. You also get very special four half-day workplace visits outside of the KEDC office from January through April. The interns (that’s YOU) will help shape some of those visits.
Learning activities are part of your paid program time.

Your main responsibilities will reflect your interests and readiness.

You’ll also try other tasks and work with the whole intern team.

Become an ORGANIZATION PRO!

Develop real STORYTELLING SKILLS!

BUILD CONNECTIONS with students and the community!

These may sound like big tasks, but these skills are actually developed through practice you can get as an intern. Help track supplies, organize shared materials, print meeting packets, and prepare spaces for meetings and activities. Practice planning ahead and following through.
Take photos, prepare social media posts, and learn how to publish website content.
And so much more!

A schedule built around school

We’ll arrange your regular shifts outside class time, with some time set aside for all three interns to work together.
Most shifts will take place at KEDC’s office in the Plaza 1 Building, 104 Center Street, Suite 201A, Kodiak.

Your internship schedule will follow the school calendar, with time off for school holidays, scheduled breaks and school closures.
You can expect some months will have fewer work hours.
Planned pay is for the full internship, November 2026 through May 2027.
At $2,800 per student, divided into seven equal monthly payments, you can expect $400 each month before payroll deductions.

You may have questions…

If you have other questions not listed here, you can fill out the application (it is great practice!) and request a time to connect to learn more.

Curious?
We hope so!

Give the opportunity a try!
