September Jobs Increased From 1 Year Ago
Jobs throughout the state of Alaska were up 2.0% from last September according to data released from the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Research and Analysis Section in Juneau, Alaska.
The cruise ship season was at a record high and contributed to the 1,400 employment increase in hospitality and leisure related jobs. Also seeing an increase was the health care industry adding 1,400 jobs as well. Of that hospitals saw the strongest growth.
Federal goverment grew by 800 as State government decrease by 100. Local government, like Federal, also saw a growth by 300.
There were areas of loss however. Information sector and financial activities each saw a 200 job loss from last September to this.
Alaska’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in September and the U.S. rate was 3.8 percent.
