KEDC’s Second ROCE Workshop Fosters Collaboration and Innovation for Kodiak’s Future
Kodiak Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) continues to drive community-led economic growth through initiatives like the Recharge Our Community’s Economy (ROCE) Workshop series. On April 9, 2025, KEDC hosted its second ROCE Workshop, titled “Building Trust and Collaboration within New Partnerships,” at Kodiak Marketplace from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event attracted over 30 participants, with additional attendees joining an informal Open House Recap. This engaging gathering provided a platform for community members and leaders to explore innovative solutions and forge partnerships, reinforcing Kodiak’s potential for economic advancement.

The workshop created a structured environment for participants to refine community projects and goals. Francesca Parent, facilitator from the Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC), said, “The workshop provided structure to Kodiak’s community projects and goals. Participants identified essential partnerships to bring their visions to fruition. It was particularly inspiring to see individuals with diverse backgrounds collaborate constructively.”
Theresa Peterson, who attended both workshops, said, “The ROCE workshops inspire community-led projects that benefit Kodiak. As a local commercial fisherman, I’m excited to share ideas that support our fleet and promote our amazing seafood.”
Ani Thomas of Kodiak Walking Tours said, “The Open House was a valuable opportunity to review the community’s vision board. Discussing Kodiak’s potential with others was both inspiring and motivating.”
Facilitator Amy Williams said, “The second ROCE workshop fostered new ways for community members to collaborate. The ideas and enthusiasm generated will fuel ongoing efforts to strengthen Kodiak’s economy.”
