What We Are Working On

Kodiak’s economic challenges do not fit neatly into separate boxes.
Housing affects workforceWorkforce affects business stability

New opportunities need information, partners, and practical planning. KEDC works across these point for connections; helping people understand shared needs, organize priorities, and keep useful work moving.

HOUSING

Kodiak’s housing challenges affect families, employers, and communities across the archipelago. KEDC helped coordinate the community-driven Kodiak Housing Action Plan and continues to support implementation through the Housing Steering Committee, public information, the Housing Action Plan Dashboard, and partner coordination.

WORKFORCE

A strong local workforce requires employers, educators, training partners, students, jobseekers, and community leaders to understand one another’s needs.

KEDC convenes the Kodiak Workforce Forum to bring these voices together, identify shared challenges and opportunities, and explore practical next steps. What we learn informs public reporting, Career Connections planning, partner conversations, and continued follow-up.

Community Value Chains and Business Support

Local businesses and community partners often recognize needs and opportunities before they appear in formal data. KEDC listens, brings partners together, supports value-chain research and technical assistance, and helps turn shared concerns into practical next steps.

Across these focus areas, KEDC gathers and shares information. We work to convene partners, as well as support planning for projects. We want to help make sure useful work continues after a report, forum, or meeting is finished.
