Kodiak Economic Development Corporation Welcomes New Board Members

Kodiak Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of three community leaders to its Board of Directors: Crystal Burnside, proprietor of Bearfoot Bakery; Corey Gronn, Vice President of Natives of Kodiak, Inc.; and Robert Greene, General Manager of Aurora Launch Services. These individuals bring extensive expertise and a shared commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth on Kodiak Island.

New Board Members

Crystal Burnside

Crystal Burnside, proprietor of Bearfoot Bakery, brings a wealth of entrepreneurial acumen to the KEDC board. Taking her business from a home-based venture to a commercial establishment employing 12 individuals, she demonstrates proficiency in business administration. Beyond her professional achievements, Crystal has served in leadership roles within the Boy Scouts of America, the Coast Guard Auxiliary Kodiak Flotilla, and various other organizations. She hopes to cultivate a Kodiak economy where small businesses flourish without incurring debt, thereby strengthening the local economic foundation.

Robert Greene

Robert Greene, General Manager of Aurora Launch Services, brings his expertise in aerospace, new technology, and public administration to the board. A lifelong Kodiak resident, who retired from the Alaska Department of Transportation in 2019, Robert’s leadership experience includes service on the Borough’s Service Area I board and his current role as Vice President of the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce. Robert aims to diversify Kodiak’s economic landscape by leveraging technological advancements and fostering innovative opportunities for future generations.

Corey Gronn

Corey Gronn, Vice President of Natives of Kodiak, Inc., offers expertise in corporate governance and real estate investment. With nine years as a board member and chair for Natives of Kodiak and 14 years with the City of Kodiak, he provides valuable insights into land management and community development, as well as serving the community of Kodiak. His understanding of municipal operations will help support KEDC’s strategic initiatives. Corey envisions Kodiak as a thriving retail center that fosters economic prosperity for both businesses and the community.

KEDC Board President Karl Hertz expressed his confidence in the new directors, stating, “We are honored to welcome Crystal Burnside, Corey Gronn, and Robert Greene to the KEDC Board.
